Rockingham Petroleum Cooperative is proud to announce that we have been featured in LP Gas Magazine for our impactful “Fuel up for FFA” campaign. This initiative showcases our commitment to supporting the Future Farmers of America (FFA) through a creative and meaningful approach.
In the article titled “Companies use their bobtails to share important messages,” LP Gas Magazine emphasized the vital role bobtails play in the propane industry. These trucks, essential for transporting liquid propane to customers, have become a platform for spreading significant messages.
Fuel Up for FFA Campaign
Our example mentioned in the article is the Rockingham Petroleum Cooperative’s wrapped bobtail truck, which promotes the “Fuel up for FFA” campaign. Launched in 2023, this campaign has returned for another successful year. Our general manager, Josh Stephens, shared his personal connection to FFA and the motivation behind the campaign.
“The FFA was very influential in my life as a young adult,” Stephens recalls. He served as the Virginia state FFA president during high school and recognizes the profound impact the organization has had on many young leaders in the community.
Supporting FFA with Every Gallon
Our campaign contributes 5 cents per gallon pumped from the FFA bobtail to the Virginia FFA Foundation. This donation supports various FFA initiatives, including providing jackets for students, funding career development events, and sponsoring student project awards. The impact of this initiative is substantial, as Stephens notes:
“Last year, we put 500,000 gallons through that particular unit and presented a check to the FFA Foundation in December for $25,000.”
Inspiring a Statewide Movement
The success of our campaign has inspired other companies across Virginia to launch similar tank-wrapping initiatives. “It’s causing a sweep across the state,” Stephens explains. This ripple effect demonstrates the power of community support and the shared value of investing in the future of agriculture.
To maximize the reach and impact of our campaign, we have actively promoted it through various channels, including radio, our website, and social media platforms. Our customers have shown overwhelming support, with some even switching their service to ensure they can contribute to the cause. “We have customers that call in and specifically say, ‘Hey, I’m going to need to fill up in a couple of weeks. Just make sure it’s when the FFA truck can come take care of it.’ They’re behind the cause, too,” Stephens shares.
The article highlights how propane companies are utilizing the previously blank space on their bobtails to support important causes. By wrapping our trucks in vinyl, we are turning them into mobile billboards that promote messages close to our hearts. This innovative approach ensures that our support for FFA is visible and impactful as our trucks travel the highways.
We are grateful to LP Gas Magazine for recognizing our efforts and featuring our campaign. Rockingham Petroleum Cooperative remains dedicated to making a positive difference in our community and beyond.
